Scott and Sandy Skillman

Scott Skillman
I was born in, and grew up in Steuben County of upstate New York, learning about God, attending Sunday school and Church until I was in my teenage years. Even though I knew about and learned of God, Jesus’ death, resurrection and the Holy Spirit, I had no personal relationship with Jesus at that time. I moved to Rochester in 1986 when I was transferred through work, and that’s when God began doing a greater work in me. He began to show me more of Himself, His goodness, His mercy and His forgiveness. It was through the Bible-based teaching and testimonies of those around me in the church that I attended that drew me closer to the Lord. I had no “grand” conversion, simply the choice to believe and receive the truth about Jesus Christ –Praying that prayer of salvation and giving my life to Jesus to be the Lord over all and trusting Him as my personal Savior was the single-most important and worthwhile thing I have ever done. I gave my life to Jesus in February of 1986, was married 1988 to my wife Sandy, who God had hand picked for me. We have three children who are our greatest blessings. I have been involved in various church ministries since 1987 and currently serve as Assistant Pastor here at the Oasis, having been personally discipled by Pastor Samme since 2003.

I am blessed to be the wife of Scott, one of Assistant Pastors here at Oasis. I have been walking with the Lord for 20 years, Scott’s wife for almost 19 years and a mother for almost 18 of those years. We have three children; a daughter and two sons; each choosing Jesus for themselves. Praise the Lord- there is no greater joy than to know my children walk with Jesus! 3 John 1:4. We have learned through our marriage and our walk with the Lord that the more we relinquish control of things to God, the more He blesses us. He truly wants what is best for us, and that is to be Lord of our lives.
I am currently involved in running our Children’s Ministry Department and participating in other various areas of ministry as the Lord leads. I encourage each wife to stand alongside her husband- in the home and in whatever ministry God calls him to. Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12.
